What Is Shukla Ashtami and What Is Durga Ashtami?
Shukla Ashtami is the eighth lunar day of the waxing fortnight, associated with Durga and the intense, cleansing pole of the lunar cycle. During Navaratri the Shukla Ashtami of Ashvina is Maha Ashtami, one of the most significant days for honouring the Goddess. Monthly Durga Ashtami and Masik Durgashtami are also kept on this tithi. On Sadhaka, Ashtami is read as a recurring marker for intensity, protection, and inner cleansing rather than as predictive timing.
