What is Chakra?

चक्र (Chakra)Energy Center / Wheel

A concentrated hub of subtle energy (Prana) in the body where specific psychological drives, emotions, and physical functions intersect.

Deep Understanding

A Chakra is not a physical organ you can find on an X-ray. It is an intersection point where the body’s subtle energy channels (Nadis) cross, creating a vortex. Think of them as localized processors for different human experiences. The lower chakras process survival, desire, and power; the upper chakras process love, expression, and insight. The yogic model suggests that human suffering often comes from energy getting 'stuck' in a specific processor—like being trapped in survival mode when there is no actual threat.

Central to Tantrik and Kundalini mapping. The Chakras provide a precise geography of human psychology, allowing the yogi to diagnose exactly where they are stuck and apply specific interventions (mantra, asana, breath) to that exact location.

Core Principles

  • 1Chakras govern distinct psychological and emotional territories
  • 2They act as step-down transformers for cosmic energy into human experience
  • 3Energy must flow freely through all centers, not just the 'higher' ones
  • 4Blockages result in predictable emotional and physical symptoms

In Practice

If you feel chronic fear or instability, the work is not in analyzing the fear conceptually, but in grounding the lowest energy center (Muladhara). Conversely, if you lack empathy, the heart center needs attention. You treat psychological issues as energetic traffic jams.
