मनुष्याणां सहस्रेषु कश्चिद्यतति सिद्धये | यततामपि सिद्धानां कश्चिन्मां वेत्ति तत्त्वतः || ३ ||
manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye yatatām api siddhānāṁ kaścin māṁ vetti tattvataḥ
manuṣyāṇām—of men; sahasreṣu—among thousands; kaścit—someone; yatati—endeavors; siddhaye—for perfection; yatatām—of those who endeavor; api—even; siddhānām—of those who are perfected; kaścit—someone; mām—Me; vetti—knows; tattvataḥ—in truth.
“Among thousands of men, perhaps one endeavors for perfection; and of those who endeavor and reach perfection, perhaps one truly knows Me in truth.”
This verse does not discourage seekers but calibrates their understanding of the rarity and preciousness of genuine God-realisation. It spurs the sincere devotee to intensify effort, knowing that the few who do achieve this knowledge are extraordinarily blessed.
Recognise that being drawn to spiritual inquiry is itself a rare gift. Do not take your seeking for granted. Treat each moment of sincere meditation, each genuine longing for truth, as precious—because statistically and spiritually it is.
