Multi-Tradition Commentary

Ramanuja (Vishishtadvaita)

The Lord is the inner controller (antaryāmin) of all hearts. The faith that arises in a devotee toward any sacred form—whether of Shiva, Shakti, or Ganesha—is ultimately granted and sustained by Īśvara Himself. The Lord meets each devotee exactly where they are.

Practical Application (Modern Life)

Whatever sacred form or principle you feel drawn to—honour that draw as the Lord's own invitation to you. Do not abandon your chosen form (iṣṭa-devatā) because someone else worships differently. The steadiness of your own faith is the ground in which deeper knowledge will flower.
