Multi-Tradition Commentary

Swami Chinmayananda

The seven rishis (saptarshis) and the four Kumaras were not born through ordinary biological means but directly from the divine will — mānasā jātāḥ, born of the mind of the Lord. This verse establishes that the entire lineage of wisdom teachers traces back to the Supreme, lending authority to the unbroken tradition of spiritual knowledge.

Practical Application (Modern Life)

Every teacher in a genuine lineage of wisdom is a living link in a chain that ultimately connects back to the divine source. When you receive authentic teaching, you are receiving something that has been transmitted across vast stretches of time. Honor that lineage with seriousness and gratitude, and pass it forward with care.
