Multi-Tradition Commentary

Ramanuja (Vishishtadvaita)

The Lord here reveals Himself as the inner teacher (antaryāmī) who directly illumines the intellect of the sincere devotee. This buddhi-yoga is not earned through intellectual prowess alone but is a gift that flows naturally when love and constancy are present. The Lord meets the devotee at the level of the devotee's own aspiration.

Practical Application (Modern Life)

Consistent, loving spiritual practice opens channels of inner guidance that sporadic intellectual study cannot. When you show up every day — in meditation, in prayer, in study — even if imperfectly, you signal readiness. Pay attention to sudden insights, moments of inexplicable clarity, and the right teacher or book appearing at the right time.
