Sanskrit

Transliteration

devānāṁ ca ṛṣīṇāṁ ca guruṁ kāñcana sannibham buddhibhūtaṁ trilokeśaṁ taṁ namāmi bṛhaspatim

Word Meanings

devānām—of the devas; ṛṣīṇām—of the sages; gurum—the teacher; kāñcana-sannibham—golden in appearance; buddhi-bhūtam—embodiment of wisdom; triloka-īśam—lordly in the three worlds; namāmi—I bow; bṛhaspatim—to Brihaspati.

Translation

I bow to Brihaspati, teacher of gods and sages, golden in radiance, embodiment of wisdom, and revered guide across the three worlds.

Commentary

Brihaspati is the guru principle—guidance, ethics, blessings, and interpretive clarity. In practice this can mean honoring teachers, studying seriously, and choosing expansion through wisdom rather than appetite.
