Transliteration

japākusuma saṅkāśaṁ kāśyapeyaṁ mahadyutim tamo'riṁ sarvapāpaghnaṁ praṇato'smi divākaram

Word Meanings

japākusuma—hibiscus flower; saṅkāśam—radiant like; kāśyapeyam—descended from Kashyapa; mahā-dyutim—great splendor; tamo-ariṁ—enemy of darkness; sarva-pāpa-ghnam—destroyer of accumulated impurity; praṇataḥ asmi—I bow; divākaram—to the maker of the day.

Translation

I bow to the day-maker Surya, radiant like the hibiscus flower, born of Kashyapa, of great brilliance, enemy of darkness, and remover of accumulated impurity.

Commentary

The Surya verse frames the sun as illumination, rhythm, and moral clarity. On Sadhaka this is read not as fatalistic remedy language, but as a contemplative reminder to align with light, steadiness, and truthful action.
